In 2013, the pursuit of Kirar’s own artistic enrichment as well as a desire to positively affect the economic future of indigenous craft provoked a period of independent study. Kirar traveled to Mexico to learn about traditional materials & craft techniques. This 5-year period of research/collaboration with celebrated Mexican artisans has produced beautiful examples of what Kirar calls “the marriage of modern design with traditional technique.” From her experience, the Laura Kirar Limited Edition Collection was born, first launching in San Miguel de Allende at the DOCE18 Concept Store and then later with Kirars own online shops. Laura Kirar’s two ecommerce sites, www.shoplaurakirar.com, featuring home and lifestyle accessories and www.casademicho.com, Kirar’s own handwoven luxury pet accessories, went live in January 2018.

With a degree in sculpture and interior architecture from the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Laura’s passion for artistic exploration in numerous mediums has continued to infuse her work with originality and thoughtful attention to detail. Her extensive world travels and extended time in Mexico are powerful influences on each project Kirar undertakes.
